Maker Project Lab is out to find, build, and review great projects for makers young and old. Whether it’s an original project, a kit, or contributed from the vast online Maker community, our only criteria is that the result is worth the time, money and energy you put into it.
When a project goes through our lab, our goal is to help explain not just how to build it or who builds it best, but why a project is worth doing and how it fits into the greater landscape of DIY projects. We want to elevate, polish, and explain the best projects from the Maker movement that are realistically worth your time to pursue.
Donald Bell is the creator of Maker Project Lab. As a former Projects Editor from Make: Magazine, he knows how to spot great projects and how to make them shine.
Prior to his tenure at Make, he spent 8 years as a Senior Editor at CNET, reviewing tech products, producing podcasts, and starring in a DIY online video series called The Fix. Today he spends much of his time working on Maker Project Lab but also works as a freelance writer and constructs commissioned projects. You can also find him playing guitar for the band Aloha Screwdriver.
